The PChAD program is looking to add a Licensed Practical Nurse to our interdisciplinary team. Passionate about working with youth and their families through a trauma informed lens? Wanting to develop your mental health, head to toe assessment, and other important nursing skills? Then we have an exciting opportunity for you! Join our interdisciplinary team at PChAD where you will have the opportunity to work closely with a larger team in the Red Deer Children's Addiction & Mental Health portfolio to ensure safe and secure detoxification and assessment over approximately 10 days. Reporting to the Program Manager, this position will provide one-to-one and group support to clients and families with addiction and mental health services, according to the client’s service plan and/or treatment plan. Using a client-centered approach, service will be provided in a variety of community settings, providing support and assistance to promote higher functioning, including social, physical and emotional well-being, while fostering self-determination and independence. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

At least two years’ experience working with child and adolescent population in a mental health setting. Critical thinking skills are required daily in this position. An ability to work independently and part of as team as necessary. Understands the importance of a trauma informed care approach. Strong interpersonal skills and a growth mindset are considered an asset.

Familiarization with the DSM-V and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Experience working in Connect Care is an asset.
