Red Deer Regional Health Center has an exciting opportunity for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) on their busy Adult Psychiatry Unit. The LPN is a Pivotal Front Line Nursing role which provides clinical intervention and treatment to patients experiencing mental health crisis. The LPN is required to work collaboratively with physicians, staff and management, other departments within RDRHC, community f Red Deer and rural sites within Central Zone. Working within a multidisciplinary team of compassionate and dedicated heath care professionals, you will utilize your critical thinking and problem-solving skills to competently provide direct patient and family centered care to clients across the life span. You will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of safe, quality care following policies and guidelines of Alberta Health Services. While demonstrating a professional, positive attitude, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills, you have the ability to respond appropriately to a patient’s change in status and prioritize conflicting demands. You accept responsibility for continuing competencies through ongoing professional development, including participation in education programs, and continuous improvement activities This position has been identified and is anticipated to transition to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Recent experience working in Acute Care as an LPN- preferably in Mental Health/ Acute Psychiatry.

Completion of Non Violent Crisis Intervention course.
