Breton Medical Clinic is a family medicine clinic located within the Breton Continuing Care Centre. The LPN will function as an LPN and the Medical Office Assistant, assisting physicians in the day-to-day operation of the clinic. As this clinic may not be operational full-time, the LPN will assist in the LTC department of the facility. Duties included, but are not limited to: book appointments, create new patient records, check patients in, ensure contact information is up-to-date, escort patients to treatment/exam room, clean exam rooms between patients, stock exam rooms, make specialist referrals, set up advanced diagnostic imaging appointments, physician exam chaperone when necessary, track patient results and reports, order office supplies, order clinic supplies and equipment, check and record blood pressures, conduct urinalysis and urine HCG, collect patient weight and height, wound care. Assisting with RAIs, care planning, assessments, IDT meetings and patient care in LTC is a large portion of the LPNs responsibilities. The Village of Breton is located in west-central Alberta, Canada. The sanctuary is open to the public for daytime visits and self-guided hikes.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Able to maintain daily operations of the clinic with minimal supervision.

Computer skills. Good interpersonal skills and communication skills with members of the public, residents, families, and the interdisciplinary team is essential. Ability to work independently and within a team environment. Willingness to learn new systems including connect care and scheduling/registration. Excellent attendance record. Experience within LTC is preferred. Knowledge of the CCHSS is preferred.
