Description
The Claresholm Centre for Mental Health & Addictions is a 120 bed facility with an attached outpatient program (community support services) of 40 spaces. There are three primary inpatient units at the site include Concurrent Disorders, Active Psychiatric Rehabilitation, Extended Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Transitions Unit. Professionals at the Centre believe in each individual’s potential for development and success. Our team includes nurses, social workers, psychiatrists, psychologist, physicians, pharmacists, recreational and occupational therapists, dieticians and other mental health providers. Once a patient is ready for transition and re-entry into community living, follow-up support, outpatient programs and outreach services are coordinated for patients. These form a comprehensive treatment model with various service options for patients. As the successful candidate you will be expected to demonstrate: time management and prioritization skills in a rapidly changing environment; be self-directed and show initiative; strong interpersonal and communication skills; collaboration with the interdisciplinary team; problem solving, decision making, critical thinking and conflict resolution skills; patient advocacy using a person-centered approach; and foster positive relationships within a team environment. This position has been identified and is anticipated to transition to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
The successful candidate will require the demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Working knowledge of relevant legislation is required including the Alberta Mental Health Act and Health Information Act.
Active NVCI. Working knowledge of CBT, DBT, and Trauma Informed Care. Knowledge of mental health diagnosis, symptomology, and related treatment interventions. Working knowledge of psychotropic medications and psychopathology.
