Description
An exciting opportunity to learn and grow on a "Chest Focused" inpatient unit. Unit 61 provides pre-op and post-operative care to Thoracic Surgery patients. Unit 61 provides care to the very acute Pulmonary Medicine and medical patients. Unit 61 provides excellent learning opportunities while working alongside our multidisciplinary team.
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Current Heart and Stroke BCLS- HCP Level C certification. Minimum 6 months experience (recent within last 1 year) of acute medical/surgical inpatient nursing experience. Demonstrated accountability, critical thinking, interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledge and experience with the following programs: Connect Care and HCA documentation experience. Effective communication (written and verbal). Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to changing and fluctuating workloads. Demonstrated ability to work independently while maintaining collaboration with team members.
Demonstrated ability to work as a team. Ability to maintain collaborative relationships with all members of the multidisciplinary team. Demonstrates behaviors consistent with the values of AHS - compassion, accountability, respect, excellence and safety. Demonstrate ability to manage change.
