Wetaskiwin has an exciting opportunity for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position on their Acute Care unit! Wetaskiwin is a large rural hospital, and you will have the opportunity to work on all three inpatient acute care units. The acute care units range from 21 to 27 beds with the prospect of working surgical/medical/telemetry. They foster a strong collaborative team environment with Nurses, Physicians, Unit Clerks, and Health Care Aides. This position will report to the Unit Manager - Wetaskiwin and will support the surgical/medical/telemetry units. The LPN will be committed to providing open communication and feedback with respect for colleagues, care providers, patients and families. The LPN will also work as a member of a health care team, collaborating on the delivery of care to meet the needs of the patients/clients. The LPN participates in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care and should expect to work to their full scope of practice. This position offers the opportunity for both personal and professional development within a variety of teams. Wetaskiwin is located 70 km south of Edmonton in the heart of Central Alberta. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Strong communication skills, both written and orally. Basic Cardiac Life Support.
Minimum (1) year employment as a licensed practical nurse in acute care in the past (3) years. Non-violent Crisis Intervention training courses.
