In this pivotal role, you will provide compassionate and professional care to patients and their families, aligning with the organization's philosophy, objectives, and standards of care. Key Responsibilities: Comprehensive Patient Care: Assess, develop, implement, and evaluate personalized oncology nursing plans of care for patients, ensuring their unique needs are met with the highest level of attention. Work closely with all members of the healthcare team to deliver safe, and individualized care, fostering a collaborative environment. Adaptability and Certification: Thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment while maintaining multiple certifications as required. Clinical Expertise: Assist in medical, malignant hematology, and radiation clinics, administering high-risk systemic therapy medications to patients. Respond promptly to hypersensitivity reactions and patient events. Side Effect Management: Contribute to the effective management and treatment of side effects related to chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted, hormonal, and radiation therapy. Patient Support and Education: Provide essential patient education for symptom control, emotional well-being, rehabilitation, cancer prevention/detection, and engage in research activities to advance our oncology care. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. Recent hands-on experience in adult critical care, emergency, and/or ambulatory oncology. Proficient in conducting strong adult critical care and internal medicine assessments. Possess certification and excellent skills in adult venipuncture and IV administration. Familiarity and certification in the operation of IV infusion pumps, port-a-caths, central venous lines, and home infusion pumps. Proficient in utilizing Connect Care and Netcare, with a demonstrated ability to chart and navigate within an electronic medical record system. Completion of specialized training in administering high-risk systemic therapy medications. Successful completion of de Souza OPREP Foundations Part 1 or equivalent. Demonstrate a keen interest and passion for oncology nursing. Exhibit strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with a specialization in oncology preferred. LPN, reflecting a commitment to advanced nursing education. Canadian Oncology Nursing Certificate and Lead II Certificates: Highly regarded as an asset, showcasing a dedication to oncology care.de Souza OPREP Foundations Part 2 or Equivalent. Provincial Standardized Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Course (PSCB): Completion of this course is preferred, emphasizing expertise in chemotherapy and biotherapy.
