Description
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) positions at acute care at Strathmore hospital will be performed in an environment that will challenge the ability to balance varying patient acuity levels and priorities. You will participate in the provision of health care to patients in Acute Care which includes medical/surgical and palliative care patients. The LPN role is responsible for the assessment, planning, care provision and evaluation of the patient in Acute Care. Must be able to work in collaboration with multi-disciplinary team, have the ability to assess, coordinate, administer and evaluate provision of health services. Demonstration of current nursing knowledge, efficiency, communication and team skills are required. You will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families in a diverse population, focusing on and integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. You will accept responsibility for continuing competences through ongoing professional development, including participation in education and orientation and continuous quality improvement activities. You will follow nursing standards/protocols as required. You are aware that the LPN position requires physical demands including lifting, pulling, pushing, walking, standing, transferring and transporting patients and equipment up to a frequent basis. The LPN is responsible and accountable to the public for his/her own practice according to the standards defined by CLPNA.
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Current nursing experience. Current certification in IV Therapy. Excellent computer skills.
CTAS. Experience or education in caring for cardiac monitored patients. Dementia Education. Experience in caring for the elderly. ER experience. Rural experience. Acute care experience. Certification in CVC.
