An exciting opportunity exists to develop as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and work to your full scope of practice within a collaborative team on 5East at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. 5 East is a 36 inpatient bed unit providing care for medical and surgical patients. You will be responsible for caring for medical inpatients (usually under the care of a Hospitalist) and providing excellent patient and family centered care supporting the acute needs of our patients. As an LPN on 5East, Medical/Surgical Unit, you will collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team consisting of Nurses, Physicians, Allied Health professionals and support workers, fostering a unit culture that values and respects individual team members and their expertise. As the successful candidate you will demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively maintain collaborative working relationships with members of the multidisciplinary team; decision making, problem solving, and critical thinking skills using sound clinical reasoning; patient advocacy and patient education skills; time management and prioritization skills; conflict resolution skills and promotion of a positive teamwork environment while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
