Description
The town of Grimshaw is located in the beautiful Peace River countryside in northern Alberta just 25 km west of the town of Peace River at the junction of Highway 35, Highway 2, bypass Highway 2A, and the Mackenzie Northern Railway. Having developed first as a community center for a rich mixed farming district, Grimshaw’s economy has transformed to become a distribution center for northern Alberta. The town population is about 2700 with a surrounding catchment of 15000. Grimshaw offers a great education system and the residents enjoy a wide range of indoor and outdoor recreational activities including golfing, hockey, camping skiing and swimming. Come join our team as a Registered Nurse in a dynamic rural emergency department. You will be working closely with physicians and members of a multidisciplinary team to provide care for patients while following AHS values. Previous experience in an ER department is required as well as the abilities to perform as a charge nurse. You will be responsible for caring for patients from CTAS 1-5. This ER department is a trauma center for the area. LPN duties will apply to this role within the department and as a support / resource to other departments. In addition to a competitive rate of pay AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3000.00. This allowance is non pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at basic rate of pay. Temporary accommodations and relocation may be considered.
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Must be able to manage Cardiac and Respiratory events, Strokes and Traumas for all age groups. Must have excellent critical thinking and assessment skills. CTAS, ACLS, Fundamentals of Emergency Room Nursing (FERN) Connect Care.
A minimum of 2 years ER experience is preferred.
