Description
Leduc Community Hospital, located 20 km south of Edmonton, offers a range of acute and outpatient care, including a 24-hour Emergency Department. Our dedicated staff provide patient-centered care for individuals of all ages, addressing general medical concerns, acute trauma, and cardiac emergencies. The Emergency Department presents a dynamic and challenging environment for nursing practice. Our patients come from diverse socio-economic and multicultural backgrounds, requiring nurses with strong critical-thinking skills and adaptability. We seek experienced, passionate Registered Nurses with prior experience working with similar populations, who are committed to delivering safe and effective care in accordance with hospital policies and nursing standards. Collaborative decision-making is at the core of our multidisciplinary health care team. In this role, nurses may be required to work across various areas of the Emergency Department at the discretion of the Unit Manager or Charge Nurse. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Strong assessment, organization, and patient care skills, with a proven ability to communicate findings concisely and accurately. Adept at adapting to fluctuating priorities and workloads, with strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities. Committed to identifying personal learning needs and seeking professional guidance when necessary. 2 years of experience in medical-surgical and acute care settings, with consideration for equivalent combinations of education and experience. This role requires prolonged periods of standing and walking, as well as assisting in the transport, lifting, and positioning of patients. Additional physical demands include bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling equipment.
Minimum 1 yr emergency experience within the last 2 yrs. Preference will be given to those with 1 or more of the following: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Certified Emergency Nurse (C.N.A. or C.N.E.). Acute/Critical Care experience within the last 2 yrs. Able to demonstrate excellent assessment, organizational, patient care, and leadership skills. Triage and/or Charge nurse experience an asset.
