Description
The Dianne and Irving Kipnes Urology Center (KUC), located on the 7th floor of the Kaye Edmonton Clinic (KEC), has a vision to provide state of the art urological care in an academic and research environment. We are seeking an experienced, innovative, energetic and motivated Licensed Practical Nurse who enjoys working in a fast-paced, team environment with a desire to provide exceptional care to patients. Working under the direction of the manager, the Licensed Practical Nurse is a key member of the Kaye Edmonton team who is responsible for a variety of nursing duties. As a member of the multidisciplinary team, they are responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the procedural patients, as well as providing patient education.
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Minimum of 1 years recent experience in one of the four procedural areas: Cystoscopy, Urodynamics, Recovery Room, Minor Procedures as well as General surgery and Orthopedics required. Preference will be given to those with experience in an acute care setting. A demonstrated knowledge of Urology, surgery and Orthopedic medicine. Certification and current experience with IV initiation, direct IV push drug administration and ECG Rhythm Analysis required. Must have current sedation and cardiac rhythm interpretation SCCs completed. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Must be an independent thinker with the ability to problem solve and critically think. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment required. Must be able to lift, push, and/or pull greater than 75lbs. Physical demands and requirements include: prolonged, extensive and/or considerable standing and walking; lifting, positioning and transferring of patients; considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching. May be required to work extended day shifts.
Proficiency in Connect Care is preferred. Peri-operative, Post-anesthesia and Procedural Sedation certification are preferred. ACLS certification is an asset.
