Description
Foothills Medical Centre is looking for a Locksmith. Under general direction of the Maintenance Manager/Supervisor, the Locksmith is responsible for the aspects of the access and key control program such as the maintenance, update and support of the hospital master key hierarchy; cutting and recording of authorized keys; service, repair or replacement of mechanical, electronic security and access control locks and associated hardware; liaison with department representatives and staff, identifying and correcting access control concerns. Work is performed in accordance with existing key control policies and procedures. The Locksmith is responsible for analyzing, developing, updating and maintaining the master key hierarchy system; Integrates newly constructed, renovated and existing areas to master key hierarchy and programs all electronic locking hardware to ensure effective key control; Provides keys, cards or codes to allow authorized access as detailed on an official key and requisition form; Receives, prioritizes and carries out service requests. Refers requests to related department if required; Maintains accurate records of lock location and keys in circulation using a computer generated key control program; Observes all key control policies and procedures to effectively manage and maintain the key control program; Records the distribution, transfer, loss, destruction and return of all keys/cards that supply access to AHS locations; Oversees the maintenance, repair and occasional installation of any locking hardware. Occasionally directs Maintenance and Protection Services personnel. Resource and coverage to other AHS locksmiths as required; Advises on access control strategies that will provide the required access control and security; Researches and recommends computer software. Investigates and identifies key or access control issues and recommends solutions.
As a Locksmith, you will perform a wide variety of journey level locksmith duties associated with installation, maintenance, upgrade and repair of all door hardware and lock systems. You will create, control and maintain the key control program in accordance with building codes, blueprints, standards and practices.
Completion of an accredited Journeyperson Locksmith Certificate from Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training.
Must be licensed by the Solicitor General and be bondable. Intermediate technical/professional experience required (i.e. 3-5 years). Must be conversant and competent with computer terminology and technology related to locksmith applications. Software - Simple K, GFMS/KSI Key cabinets. Minimum 3-year experience with complex master key hierarchies in a large facility. Good initiative and judgement required. Must be stable, mature and discretionary, especially when dealing with confidential tasks and information. Must have demonstrated verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work with minimum supervision. Cooperative and willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis. Good understanding of Building Codes and standards, including Standata and NFPA80.
Minimum of 5 years varied locksmith experience preferred. American Association of Automatic Door Manufacturers (AAADM) certification or other automated door manufacturing training/certification would be considered an asset.
