Description
Reporting to the Executive Director in Women's Health at the Lois Hole Hospital for Women, this dynamic role is accountable for implementing broad-scope patient care mandates; providing mid-to longer-term, complex operational planning; representing AHS in authoritative, consultative internal/external relationships; resolving broad and highly complex problems with independent judgement; making broad technical/medical decisions and providing technical/functional/people leadership. The Patient Care manager of Surgical Services is also responsible for: Implementation, operational management, and monitoring of surgical services, including operating room and surgical inpatient unit within the Lois Hole Hospital for Women, located on the Royal Alexandra Hospital Campus.
The position provides direct leadership and mentoring for two Unit Managers in the Women's Health program and is responsible and accountable for making program related decisions. Assessing, planning, directing and evaluating the operations and activities of the Women's Health program within established policies, guidelines, and regulations. Participating in the budget process and monitoring financial position of the sites through variance report analysis. Providing support to the Executive Director and team on all aspects of related services within the Women's Health Operating Room, post-anesthesia care unit, day surgery, and gynecology unit. Maintain and manage influential working relationships with team members and management and resolve broad technical area and/or functional issues.
Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is required. A minimum of five or more years of leadership experience in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity is required. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a team member. Proven ability to manage human, financial and physical resources within a surgical service environment. Proven communication, interpersonal, and team leadership skills. Proven ability to cope with the changing pace of a complex acute Women's Health portfolio.
Current operating room experience in an acute care setting is required. Responsible to maintain active registration with the College of Registered Nurses in Alberta throughout the duration of employment. Recent leadership experience in surgical suite is required.
