Description
The Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital (GRH) is the largest freestanding tertiary rehabilitation facility in Canada, serving patients of all ages who require complex and specialized rehabilitation services. As a fully accredited academic teaching hospital, the GRH is dedicated to training the next generation of professionals in science, technology, engineering, and medicine, while also advancing research and innovation. In this leadership role, you will lead a large staff group of Recreation Therapists and be the program lead for several specialized multidisciplinary rehabilitation teams. You will establish and maintain collaborative relationships with patients, families, the management team, clinical teams, and external partners ensuring assigned services deliver safe, high-quality and innovative rehabilitation. You will have the opportunity to lead quality and safety improvement projects to improve quality of rehabilitation within the Glenrose and in collaboration with partners across the system of care. Are you a passionate and experienced leader who thrives in a dynamic and complex healthcare setting? Reporting to the director of pediatric rehabilitation, the manager of recreation therapy is responsible for the effective operation and administration of assigned services within a matrix management structure. The manager works collaboratively as part of the site’s management team, ensuring that care is delivered efficiently, meets the needs of patients and the site, and aligns with the organization’s commitment to excellence in rehabilitation.
Degree in a professional health discipline (Allied Health, Nursing). Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical management or equivalent leadership experience. Active registration with relevant professional college(s) and/or association(s).
In-depth understanding of the service delivery models of Recreation Therapy. Proven leadership and team-building skills. Familiarity leading interprofessional teams in a matrix organizational structure. Knowledge of healthcare systems and refocused care principles. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Competence in financial management, budget and activity oversight. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated success in change management and strategic planning. Ability to manage a broad scope of services and drive results.
Postgraduate education in health leadership or business administration. Training in program evaluation and project management. Extensive clinical experience in tertiary rehabilitation. Experience working with or overseeing Recreation Therapy services, with an understanding of the essential role Recreation Therapists play in supporting holistic, patient-centered care within a tertiary rehabilitation setting.
