Description
This MRT II position performs both CT and General Radiology examinations in the busy and dynamic Diagnostic Imaging Department at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. Close collaboration with technical staff, nursing, patients, physicians, supervisor and management is required.
As a Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) II, you will perform specialized technical radiological imaging examinations on patients for the purpose of disease and pathology diagnosis. You may perform specialized diagnostic imaging procedures for Physician/Radiologist review, interpret physician requisitions and assist with the care and maintenance of imaging equipment.
Completion of diploma from an accredited Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).
MRT with hospital experience is required. Excellent technical skills and radiation safety knowledge required. Good work ethic and positive attitude necessary. Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, computer and interpersonal skills. Ability to assume responsibility and work effectively both independently and within a team. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and in emergency situations. Must be able to demonstrate interest in professional growth. Excellent perception, initiative, judgment and concern for detail and accuracy required. Demonstrated tact, courtesy and professionalism with patients, staff and physicians. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position.
CT training and experience is preferred. CT courses I, II, III would be an asset. CTIC Certification preferred. IV certification preferred. Able to demonstrate taking on extra responsibilities within the department an asset. AHS annual continuing education and ACMDTT education requirements up to date and applicable additional courses preferred. Demonstrated participation in AHS Diagnostic Imaging Quality program/Peervue. Experience and aptitude in mentoring students an asset.
