Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Therapist to provide crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral and treatment services at the Northwest Health Centre, St. Theresa Hospital and La Crete Continuing Care. In this vital role, you'll provide services in a flexible and responsive manner to meet client needs and foster a shared care approach to mental health services. You'll work with a multi-disciplinary team and interact with clients through walk-in services, booked appointments and travel to our satellite communities. Having an understanding and respect for Indigenous culture, history and health practices is essential. The town of High Level is located in the scenic northwestern Alberta. Residents enjoy a wide range of indoor and outdoor recreational activities including fishing, golfing, hockey, hunting, camping and swimming. With a population of 3,900 and serving a trade area of 26,000, High Level offers a bustling economy with the local service area committed to ensuring their residents have access to optimal healthcare. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Northern Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $6,300. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. Relocation assistance and 3 months temporary accommodations may be available.
As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.
Master's degree in Psychology; or master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
Ability to travel during inclement weather. Permanent and temporary employees working in excess of one (1) year whose work sites are above the 57th parallel are also eligible to receive an annual reimbursement of personal travel expenses to an annual maximum of $1,235. Eligible employees will be reimbursed for the cost of one (1) round trip, per calendar year, to any destination within Alberta. Travel must originate from a community above the 57th parallel to any destination within Alberta and cannot be carried over. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024.
