Description
The Nuclear Cardiology department within SHC is currently recruiting a part-time Nuclear Medicine Radiation Technologist (NMRT) I. Reporting to the Unit Manager of Cardiac Diagnostics and Clinics and working daily under the supervision of the Nuclear Medicine Radiation Technologist II, the NMRT is required to prepare, administer and measure radioisotopes in therapeutic, diagnostic and tracer studies utilizing radioisotope equipment. The NMRT will also be required to utilize clinical expertise to ensure efficient and optimal Nuclear Cardiology images are produced with each patient encounter. The NMRT will assist in the completion of the following tests: Myocardial Perfusion Imaging (MPI), Cardiac Computed Tomography Angiograms (Cardiac CTA) and Calcium Scoring, Multigated Acquisition Scan (MUGA). In performing the above listed tests the successful candidate will be required to work collaboratively with all members of the multidisciplinary team and exhibit excellent communication skills during all interactions with patients, families, and team members. The successful candidate will understand and comply with practice standards set by the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT), the Health Professions Act, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP), Protection of Persons in Care Act, Health Information Act and other relevant legislation. The NMRT will also demonstrate knowledge of and adherence to guidelines outlined by the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology (ASNC). The NMRT is guided by their level of education, expertise, experience, demonstrated skill level, and Alberta Health Services policies, procedures, and job description.
As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMT) I, you will be responsible for performing a variety of nuclear medicine procedures for the diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology. As a NMT I, you will perform Nuclear Medicine procedures as described in the department procedure manual using a wide range of equipment such as gamma cameras, computers, ECG monitors, cardiac stress equipment, and radiation safety devices.
Completion of diploma from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology (NMT) Program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT).
Current CT and Contrast Media Enhanced Practice Designation with ACMDTT. Registered with the Health Disciplines Board of Alberta. Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Minimum 2 years Nuclear Cardiology experience within the past 5 years (equivalent to 0.2 FTE or greater). Experience in performing Cardiac CT within the past 2 years (equivalent to 0.2 FTE or greater). Current dysrhythmia certification. Experience in research activities involving nuclear cardiology. Familiar with the principles and practices associated with Patient and Family Centered care. Familiarity with the following IT systems: Connect Care. APPROACH. Netcare.
