This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and skilled addiction and mental health professional to be a member of the multi-disciplinary Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACT). Reporting to the Care Manager, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) will provide assertive, client focused, culturally appropriate, trauma-informed, recovery-oriented care to adults experiencing severe and persistent mental illness, addictions and houselessness. ACT works primarily with individuals whose illness presents a barrier to engagement in treatment. Clinical services are delivered using a harm-reduction approach and most often through outreach services in the community, and in partnership and collaboration with clients, families, other AHS providers including psychiatry, inner city agencies, and community programs. We are seeking an NP who has experience in assessing, treating, and monitoring complex addiction and mental and physical health needs. This candidate will be able to support the multidisciplinary team by making medication recommendations, assisting with medical interventions and treatments, and will be confident working with all forms of opioid replacement treatment. They will also have a good working knowledge of the Alberta Mental Health Act and Community Treatment Orders (CTO). This position has been identified and is anticipated to transition to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program and a minimum of master's degree. Registration with CRNA on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Successful completion of an approved NP program at a minimum of a Masters of Nursing level or equivalent, and holding active registration with CRNA as an NP. Minimum of 3 years of relevant addiction and mental health experience, preferably in a community or acute care setting. A strong understanding and working knowledge of the Alberta Mental Health Act including Community Treatment Orders. Experience working with and treating individuals who experience barriers in engagement with health services. Experience working with opioid replacement treatments. Critical thinking skills, working knowledge on the management of concurrent disorders and medical co-morbidities, and the principles of chronic disease management and recovery are required. Demonstrated ability to work well in a team and seek consultation when necessary. Ability to ambulate, climb stairs, and move quickly without limitations in a variety of environments. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.

Extensive knowledge of the resources of Addiction and Mental Health and the community. Demonstrated ability to work well with a range of community and agency stakeholders as well as clients and families. Experience with certification under the Alberta Mental Health Act is preferred. Completion of OAT certificate.
