We are looking for a Nurse Practitioner (NP) with experience in patient-centred, trauma-informed, and recovery-based care for the Addiction and Mental Health Outreach Team in Medicine Hat, Alberta. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team based out of the Regional Resource Center, this position will provide concurrent support to individuals who require treatment in place for a variety of medical conditions including chronic disease, acute wound care and STBBI testing/treatment. Services will be community-based and recovery-oriented for adults experiencing severe and persistent mental illness, addiction, and homelessness. You will work in collaboration with community partner teams, both Recovery Alberta and non-Recovery Alberta-based, to collaboratively provide care to individuals whose lives have been impacted by unstable housing, socioeconomic factors, and substances. The primary focus of the Nurse Practitioner (NP) role is on diagnosing and managing common and complex health conditions, promoting health, and preventing illness/injury, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing pharmaceuticals, and other therapies, and performing procedures, interventions and/or treatments.

As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program and a minimum of master's degree. Registration with CRNA on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Knowledge and/or experience of addiction and/or mental health treatment modalities (e.g., motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioural therapy, and solution-focused therapy). A proven ability to work with community stakeholders is required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrating effective time management, independent decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills; and an ability to foster positive relationships within a multidisciplinary team environment are all expectations of this role.

Experience providing Addiction and Mental Health/Public Health services. Experience engaging complex clients in a variety of settings. Knowledge and/or experience of harm reduction strategies. Knowledge of testing and treatment pathways for HIV and HCV. Nonviolent crisis intervention training and suicide intervention training required. Knowledge and/or experience of addiction and/or mental health treatment. Naloxone administration training preferred.
