This is an exciting position in Northern Alberta. The position design will be done in collaboration with current Primary Care manager to provide services onsite in Peavine Metis Settlement, East Prairie Settlement and Gift Lake Settlement. The NP will be based out of the Slave Lake Family Care Clinic where support is available from the current NP team and will provide general medical care to all age groups with a wide variety of medical conditions. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program and a minimum of master's degree. Registration with CRNA on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

ACLS - mandatory. Must possess a sound understanding of the determinants of health. Computer literacy skills mandatory with preference for EMR experience.

BTLS optional. Completion of one or more of: Emergency Nursing Course, Pediatric Advance Life Support, Trauma Nurse Core Course, or other advance clinical nursing skills preferred. Additional training in CTAS scoring, EKG, lab and other diagnostic results would be an asset. Experience in a wide range of assessment, treatment and therapeutic interventions, health promotion, diagnostic procedures, and follow-up care in the community considered and asset.
