Reporting to the Patient Care Manager for Kaye Edmonton Clinic Ambulatory Care Medicine Clinics, the Hematology program Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a self-directed health care provider who works collaboratively with the attending Hematologists. The NP will take and write patients’ histories, complete physical examinations, write orders for prescriptions and lab tests, follow up on lab results, write and send referrals, provide patient and staff education as well as run NP lead clinics in the ambulatory setting. All duties and responsibilities of the NP will follow the guidelines developed by the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta, the University of Alberta Hospital and the practice protocols of the Division of Hematology. The NP in hematology works to full scope and is expected to provide leadership and participate in program development and quality improvement. This position will be based out of Medical Outpatients at the Walter Mackenzie Center, the Adult Day Medicine out of the Kaye Edmonton Clinic and Hem oncology Clinics at the Kaye Edmonton Clinic. Hours of work for are Monday through Friday days from 0800-1600 but may vary with clinic operating hours. The successful candidate will be supported through their orientation by Hematologists.

As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, with a minimum of a Master's degree. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

A minimum of three full-time years of related experience as a Registered Nurse is also required. Experience working in Hematology or Oncology. Computer experience (MS Office, Connect Care, Netcare).

Intensive Care and Medicine experience preferred.
