Join our team and help make a positive impact on the care of lung Cancer patients. The Alberta Thoracic Oncology Program is an outpatient program offering rapid multidisciplinary evaluation of patients with suspected lung malignancy. As a member of the ATOP team, the Nurse Practitioners (NPs) work in a team of radiologists, thoracic surgeons, and clerks in supporting the expedited diagnosis, staging, and investigation of suspected lung malignancies. Reporting to the Manager, the ATOP NP is a self-directed Advanced Practice Nurse whose primary responsibilities include providing comprehensive direct patient care for outpatients referred to the clinic as a core member of the team. The ATOP NP will perform comprehensive assessment, triage, diagnosis (including ordering and interpretation of tests), intervention (including prescribing of medications), management, referral, and evaluation of client care. This position is part of the ATOP South Program based out of the Foothills Medical Centre which provides care to patients from Red Deer to the border. The ATOP NP works in close collaboration with specialist MDs. The NP provides leadership and actively participates in program development and evaluation, research, and clinical teaching activities.

As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, with a minimum of a Master's degree. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

The NP is a Registered Nurse who has successfully completed an approved NP program and holds a Master of Nursing with a focus on advanced clinical nursing practice. Current registration with CARNA as an NP in the Adult stream. Minimum of 2 years recent experience as an NP in a relevant clinical setting and / or relevant front-line clinical RN work.

Experience in Pulmonary nursing. Experience in an acute care and/or Outpatient settings. Additional training in ECG interpretation, Lab and DI investigations. Experience with EPIC/Connect Care.
