Description
Occupational Therapy Pediatric Team Lead and Glenrose Feeding/Swallowing Service - Clinical Lead, Pediatrics. The Pediatric Team Lead supports operational needs for the Occupational Therapy Department and supervision of clinical staff. The Feeding/Swallowing Pediatric Team supports children from birth to 18 years of age. The patient population serviced has complex, tertiary-level needs. The primary roles of the Clinical Lead are supporting the team by providing mentorship and education, organizing clinical processes/scheduling and triaging/completing intake for referrals. The Clinical Lead will participate in multidisciplinary feeding/swallowing assessment and develop care plans in collaboration with the family and team. The successful candidate requires a strong background in assessment and management of pediatric eating, feeding, and swallowing concerns. The Clinical Lead is responsible for contacting families to complete a clinical history prior to booking the appropriate type of assessment or redirecting to the appropriate service outside of the Glenrose. The Clinical Lead requires strong skill with leading, interpreting and mentoring team members for Videofluoroscopic Swallow Studies. The successful candidate must be a strong communicator and be able to maintain and develop relationships with stakeholders and community partners. The Clinical Lead provides education and mentorship for medical residents and community partners in Alberta and Northwest Territories.
As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible for the coordination of occupational therapy and other allied health clinical services within a program or service area. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible to work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team where you will be an integral member, providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will be making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge and follow-up. You will make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient and effective client care. You will ensure occupational therapy practice is evidence-based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics and AHS policy and guidelines. You will be providing coordination of the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff. You will be participating in program development and operational planning and representing the department on committees or programs. You will be making decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow and caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers. As assigned, you will carry out the roles of a direct clinical service provider, consultant, educator and/or advocate in your program or service area.
Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).
Experience with formal in-scope operational leadership as a team lead or clinic coordinator. Demonstrated experience administering Videofluoroscopic Swallow Studies within the last 3 years, as well as a minimum of five years of experience with pediatric eating, feeding, and swallowing.
