Are you a visionary leader with a passion for sustainable and quality healthcare? We are seeking an experienced healthcare leader to guide and shape the future of healthcare delivery in the province, ensuring that Albertans have access to a primary care provider or team. A newly created organization, Primary Care Alberta (PCA), is responsible for coordinating and delivering primary healthcare services province-wide. Our mission is to reduce the strain on emergency departments and provide residents with consistent, high-quality primary care services. As the Lead, Patient Navigation and System Integration, you will play a pivotal role in driving the provision of primary health care services, supporting PCA's vision, and helping to define the future of health care delivery for the province. The Lead is accountable for clinical services integration, patient flow supports, and virtual health services, while managing operational performance, business needs, capacity and resourcing. Working as part of the executive team, you will be a trusted advisor, influencing decisions related to virtual health strategies, performance, and stakeholder relations. You will also oversee a talented team, fostering innovation and collaboration across the organization. If you are an experienced healthcare leader with a passion for innovation, technology-driven care and strategic approaches to complex problems, we invite you to apply for this key role in Alberta’s healthcare transformation. This position will be part of Primary Care Alberta effective November 18, 2024. By applying on this posting, if you are the successful candidate, you agree to and will become an employee of Primary Care Alberta.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Lead, Patient Navigation and System Integration provides strategic recommendations to the CEO and executive leadership team related to the vision, goals, and leadership required to deliver primary healthcare services for Alberta. The Lead establishes and integrates short- and long-term operational strategies, plans and priorities in alignment with Primary Care Alberta’s (PCA) broader vision, other health sector areas and Government and Ministry policy direction. You will develop and implement operational plans, programs, and initiatives related to clinical services integration, patient flow supports, and virtual health services. Utilizing technology to enhance existing provincial HealthLink program, the Lead ensures that programs and services connect and mutually support each other, and develops a provincial patient navigation program with coordinated navigation services. Critical to the Lead’s success is ensuring the overall efficacy of PCA through the maintenance of good working relationships with the provincial government, specifically Alberta Health, as well as other external stakeholders, including the other Provincial Health Agencies, health service providers and Primary Care Networks. You will also establish and develop internal networks and coalitions to achieve organizational vision and goals. With provincial accountability, this role can be located anywhere within Alberta.

The successful candidate will possess a Master’s degree in a healthcare profession, healthcare management, business administration, or a related field. The successful candidate will have more than ten (10) years of senior management experience with specific experience leading virtual healthcare. A combination of qualifications and experience will be considered.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership, including the ability to provide expert counsel to senior leaders and make sound decisions under pressure. You will have strong communication skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and mediate complex situations. Your experience includes working with government ministries, elected officials, and healthcare providers. You should also have a proven ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives that drive positive outcomes. The successful candidate will be skilled at fostering partnerships and promoting innovation and creativity to achieve organizational goals.

Candidates with professional accreditations from organizations such as the Canadian College of Health Leaders (CCHL) or similar healthcare leadership credentials are preferred.
