Description
As the temporary Site Lead Pharmacist of the Vermilion Health Centre Pharmacy Team, you will have the opportunity to provide high quality direct patient care. Our pharmacists work in a multidisciplinary environment, where they have the opportunity to provide specialized and general medicine care to patients. In drug distribution, our pharmacists work with registered technicians and pharmacy assistants that utilize their full scope of practice to allow the pharmacist to focus on clinical order assessment. The Vermilion Health Centre Pharmacy is responsible for the provision of both clinical and distribution services to the Acute beds of the Vermilion Health Centre and the Continuing Care beds of both the Vermilion and Mannville Care Centre’s. The pharmacy department strongly supports professional development and provides educational opportunities and support to facilitate pharmacist growth.
As a Pharmacist I, you will be responsible for the safe, effective and efficient preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services. You will manage medication therapy for patients, both initially and on an ongoing basis. In addition, you will provide assessment, intervention and resolution of potential or actual drug-related problems and oversee activities related to compounding and packaging.
Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP).
Additional Prescribing Authorization (APA) from the Alberta College of Pharmacist would be an asset for this position. Successful candidates not having APA will be expected to obtain it within 6 months of commencing in this position, dependent on eligibility. Pharmacy related experience in a hospital setting or in direct patient care providing comprehensive medication management services. Recent experience as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team. Experience with computerized medication order entry, and different drug distribution systems such as unit dose.
Demonstrated self-directed learning and continuing education. Demonstrated good time management including ability to switch priorities and multitask. Demonstrated excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, good organizational and problem-solving skills. Self-motivated; able to work both independently and cooperatively in a team environment.
