The Southern Alberta Clinic (SAC) Pharmacy Team Lead is a key position overseeing Pharmacy dispensary operations at the SAC program located at the Sheldon M. Chumir Health Centre in Calgary. Core administrative duties include leading dispensary operations to ensure the efficient flow of medications to patients, and providing direction to team members to maximize workflows. The Pharmacy Team lead is expected to work closely with Pharmacy Services leadership team members to support growth and change management processes within the dept, and maintain an effective communication pathway from front-line team members. The Pharmacy Team Lead is also required to serve as the Pharmacy Licensee with the Alberta College of Pharmacy, and ensure all activities are in compliance with ACP requirements. The SAC Pharmacy Team Lead will allocate a portion of their time to Clinical Pharmacist activities, where they will manage medication therapy for outpatients through direct patient engagement. Key activities include the identification and resolution of drug therapy problems, providing patient education surrounding drug therapy and disease state information, prescribing/monitoring/adjusting medication therapies, and providing therapeutic recommendations as part of the multidisciplinary care team. All Ambulatory Pharmacists are responsible for the provision of pharmaceutical care according to AHS, clinic, and program standards. In addition to direct patient care, Ambulatory Pharmacists are also responsible for drug information, education, and research activities. They are responsible for maintaining their own professional development and participating in the precepting and mentoring of other staff and students. As well, the Ambulatory Pharmacist will assist with the planning, delivery and implementation of ongoing quality/healthcare improvement initiatives and research programs.

As a Pharmacist I, you will be responsible for the safe, effective and efficient preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services. You will manage medication therapy for patients, both initially and on an ongoing basis. In addition, you will provide assessment, intervention and resolution of potential or actual drug-related problems and oversee activities related to compounding and packaging.

Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP).

Fluency in the English language (both written and verbal). Computer literacy. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Advanced Prescribing Authorization (APA) designation. Current and ongoing direct patient care experience.

Recent experience leading/managing a healthcare team. Training/experience in Change Management and/or Quality Improvement processes. Recent experience serving as a preceptor to Pharmacy learners. Recent experience within Pharmacy dispensary operations. Recent experience with Connect Care/Willow Ambulatory EMR software (Epic). Clinical experience with HIV care and/or Infectious Diseases.
