Description
The Rimbey Hospital supports acute care beds primarily focused rural general medicine in 23 acute care beds as well as supporting 84 continuing care beds. The Rimbey Pharmacy team provides distribution and clinical services to acute care, continuing care and emergency patients at the site, and when needed remote coverage support for sites in Central Zone South. Rimbey Hospital provides a supportive, multidisciplinary environment for pharmacists, where they provide specialized and general medicine care to patients as part of a collaborative interdisciplinary team. The pharmacy department is supported by a team of pharmacy technicians and assistants working towards their full scope of practice to allow the pharmacists to focus on clinical activities utilizing their full scope, spending the day engaging with patients.
As a Pharmacist I, you will be responsible for the safe, effective and efficient preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services. You will manage medication therapy for patients, both initially and on an ongoing basis. In addition, you will provide assessment, intervention and resolution of potential or actual drug-related problems and oversee activities related to compounding and packaging.
Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP).
Additional Prescribing Authorization (APA) from the Alberta College of Pharmacist would be an asset for this position. Successful candidates not having APA will be expected to obtain it within 6 months of commencing in this position, dependent on eligibility. Pharmacy related experience in a hospital setting or in direct patient care providing comprehensive medication management services. Recent experience as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team. Experience with computerized medication order entry, and different drug distribution systems such as unit dose.
Demonstrated self-directed learning and continuing education. Demonstrated good time management including ability to switch priorities and multitask. Demonstrated excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, good organizational and problem-solving skills. Self-motivated; able to work both independently and cooperatively in a team environment. Rural hospital experience an asset.
