There are 2 casual positions available. The Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre will be the largest comprehensive cancer centre in Canada and a world-leading healthcare facility for research and education in oncology. The centre will include both inpatient and outpatient services. The Pharmacy is an integral component of the facility. The Pharmacy Assistant will perform aspects of drug distribution to provide for the efficient daily operation of all departmental services and programs, leading to safe and quality patient care. Participating in special projects and programs as assigned and building interactive relationships with all members of the healthcare team.

As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will be responsible for the packaging, distributing, shipping medications and the management and replenishment of medication inventory levels under the general supervision of Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.

Graduate of recognized Pharmacy Assistant program and/or 1 year minimum experience in retail or hospital pharmacy experience required. Connect Care oncology experience is required, which includes Oracle experience. Required to stand and/or sit for long periods at a time. Required to work with arms extended for sustained periods of time. Required to lift up to 30 lbs. and occasionally 50 lbs., push/pull carts, repetitive bending. Good organizational, problem-solving and decision-making ability. Displays professionalism, tact, courtesy, discretion and respects confidentiality. Must be accurate, reliable, precise, cooperative, self-motivated and able to demonstrate effective service attitude. Must be able to work both independently and cooperatively in a team environment. A pharmacy assistant assessment is required.

Knowledge of various office equipment, unit dose packaging equipment. Knowledge of Pharmacy Drug Formulary preferred. Experience Canada Post Software preferred. Investigational and Special Access Drug Knowledge preferred. Membership with a Pharmacy professional organization.
