Pharmacy Assistant

The Central Alberta Cancer Center Pharmacy is looking for a motivated Pharmacy Assistant to join our Pharmacy team in a busy regional Cancer Center located in Red Deer. The Pharmacy Assistant works to support Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians in providing distribution services to Cancer patients. Duties include functions related to the distribution of pharmaceuticals, including inventory management, accurate stocking of medication wardstock and pharmacy shelves (both drugs and supplies), receiving in and shipping out Pharmacy Department orders, barcoding, medication delivery, data entry and filing. In addition, this position will demonstrate effective communication skills with both internal healthcare providers and external customers. The Pharmacy Assistant must demonstrate a high degree of accuracy and good time management and prioritization skills. They must be self-directed and work well in a team setting as well as independently. This position includes physical exertion such as bending, lifting, walking and extended periods of time on your feet.

As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will be responsible for the packaging, distributing, shipping medications and the management and replenishment of medication inventory levels under the general supervision of Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.

Individuals MUST possess pharmacy education or experience. They must be able to perform physical tasks involving standing, walking, and lifting in addition to tasks requiring visual acuity and repetitive motion. The incumbent must possess fluent English language skills in addition to having reading and comprehension skills. Basic math skills, computer skills, accurate keyboarding and attention to detail are necessary.

Pharmacy Assistant program is considered an asset.
