The Technician Student position is a temporary full-time position created to expose college students to a hospital pharmacy environment. The primary purpose is to educate the student while they perform professional duties under direct supervision. The student will primarily be completing and working on pharmacy projects; examples include data and/or literature collection and review, development of tools, educational presentations. The technician student will perform tasks in any of these areas: Projects: Students may participate many projects related to technical practice. This may involve data and /or literature collection and review, new procedures or tools and assisting in creating them, as well as updating and revising training materials. Many of these projects will provide a direct benefit to AHS Pharmacy at a provincial or zonal level. Distribution: Students will visit pharmacies in their local area shadowing a pharmacy technician.

Completion of the first (1st) year of training in a formal two year Alberta pharmacy technician diploma program. Fluency in the English language (written and verbal) is required. Must be accurate, reliable, precise, cooperative, able to demonstrate effective service attitude, and self-motivated. Must be able to work both independently and cooperatively in a team environment. Excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills. Excellent organizational, problem-solving and decision-making ability.

As required.

Some previous experience/exposure to hospital and/or community pharmacy would be an asset. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint and Excel would be an asset.
