ACH is a leader in pediatric and neonatal care and is a major referral center for pediatric malignancies and complex hematological treatment including pediatric bone marrow transplants and Alberta’s only hospice for children (Rotary Flames House) located next door. Here at ACH we offer a variety of Pharmacy Inpatient Services include our Oncology Satellite Pharmacy, Day Medicine, Rotary Flames House, and Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) onsite and offsite and at the Foothills Medical Center. Our Pharmacy Technicians work collaboratively with the health care team performing moderately complex duties; such as clinical supporting roles, full scope of practice, and responsibilities related to all aspects of drug distribution. Under limited supervision of the Operations Manager and in collaboration with the Zonal and Provincial safety teams, performs moderately complex duties and responsibilities related to all aspects of medication safety and inventory, to provide for the effective daily operation and maintenance of all medications and programs leading to pharmaceutical care. As a Pharmacy Technician I, you will be responsible for the preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products. You will receive and triage medication orders, compound and repackage medication and prepare sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products.

Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician.

Prior hospital experience with a variety of responsibilities including but not limited to checking, sterile compounding, non-sterile compounding and all aspects of drug distribution such as ward stock, and narcotics. 2 years + experience in the last 5 years in pediatrics required. 2 years + experience and recent certification in sterile compounding and non-sterile compounding required or demonstrate active ability to be certified. 2 years + experience in the last 5 years in all aspects of Chemotherapy; including but not limited to receiving, embedded worksheet setup, recent certification for preparation, checking and medication distribution preferred. 1 year + Connect Care/Epic Willow Inpatient computer program experience preferred. Investigational and Special Access Drugs knowledge preferred. Experience with medication reconciliation in a clinical setting. Must be able to withstand long periods of sitting, standing and walking. It is a requirement to be able to work with chemotherapy and/or hazardous drugs. It is a requirement to be able to work at our NICU Satellite at Foothills Medical Center, Rotary Flames House or Pharmacy Oncology Satellite. It is a requirement to be able to work all shifts including on-call duty (2245-0700). Must have excellent organizational, problem-solving and decision-making ability. Must be self-motivated and demonstrate an excellent customer service attitude.

Recent ACH experience is preferred. Active membership with a pharmacy professional organization such as PTSA and/or CAPhO is preferred. Preference given to individuals with recent pediatric and/or oncology experience along with current chemotherapy IV certification status. Connect Care/Epic Willow Ambulatory experience will be viewed as an asset. Experience in a Clinical Deployed Technician role. Prior experience in a retail pharmacy setting
