Pharmacy Technician

As a member of the team located in High Level, the Technician will work with Assistants and Pharmacists to their full scope of practice. Travel to St Theresa General Hospital (Fort Vermilion) may be required. Fleet vehicle will be provided if available but may require use of personal vehicle. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS has a Northern Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $6,300. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours at the basic rate of pay. Travel Expense Reimbursement: Permanent and temporary employees working in excess of one (1) year whose work sites are above the 57th parallel are eligible to receive an annual reimbursement of personal travel expenses to an annual maximum of $1,235. Eligible employees will be reimbursed for the cost of one (1) round trip, per calendar year. Travel must originate from a community above the 57th parallel to any destination within Alberta and cannot be carried over. Medication prep, repackaging & final product checking products & wardstock. Knowledge of purchasing, receiving, & inventory control to minimize outdated medications, & provision of ward stock. Providing guidance to & assisting with the training & orientation of staff. Participating in special projects and programs as assigned. Maintaining department records, statistics & preparing reports as required. Building interactive relationships with members of the healthcare team including communicating with nursing for requests, triaging drug information questions & distribution issues, providing zone support when required. Participate in special projects, perform other duties when necessary or assigned. Must be in good physical condition - majority of shift may involve heavy lifting, crouching, pushing, pulling, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods of time.

As a Pharmacy Technician I, you will be responsible for the preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products. You will receive and triage medication orders, compound and repackage medication and prepare sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products.

Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician.

2+ Years Regulated Pharmacy Technician with Alberta College of Pharmacists. Demonstrate proficiency in the following: communication (verbal and written), interpersonal abilities, organizational and problem-solving skills, ability to work independently and in teams as required, computer skills, continual personal quality improvement and lifelong learning.

Local Site knowledge or experience is an asset. Prior hospital experience with a variety of responsibilities. Working knowledge of automated dispensing cabinets (Omnicell, Pyxis). Epic Computer Software: 1+ yr experience dispensing, and inventory management. Membership with a pharmacy professional organization. Preceptor for student placements
