Pharmacy Technicians will work with Pharmacy Assistants and Pharmacists working to their full scope of practice. Under limited supervision of the Operations Manager, Pharmacy Technicians work collaboratively within the health care team performing moderately complex duties, performing all aspects of drug distribution and inventory control to provide efficient daily operation of all departmental services leading to safe and quality patient care. Casual positions are short notice call in, shifts are not routinely scheduled. Core duties may include, but are not limited to: distribution related tasks, repackaging, final product checking and release required by Regulated health professionals, handling and storage of controlled substances, inventory control and management including receiving and purchasing of pharmaceuticals, emphasis on turn over to reduce outdating of medications, and provision of ward stock. Assisting with training of staff hires and students. Obtaining information to facilitate medication reconciliation activities and clarifying discrepancies to support the provision of direct patient care as required. Maintaining department records, statistics and preparing reports as required. Building interactive relationships with all members of the healthcare team including communicating with nursing staff to clarify orders and requests, triaging drug information questions and distribution issues, providing zone support to program when required. Completion of internal validation programs as required for final product checking. Participating in special projects, performs other duties deemed necessary or assigned. As a Pharmacy Technician I, you will be responsible for the preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products. You will receive and triage medication orders, compound and repackage medication and prepare sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products.

Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician.

2 Years Regulated Pharmacy Technician with Alberta College of Pharmacists. EPIC trained experience for both acute & LTC patient care, barcoding, compounding & repackaging, dispensing functionality, and inventory transfers and management. Demonstrate proficiency in the following: communication (verbal and written), interpersonal abilities, organizational and problem-solving skills, ability to work independently and in teams as required, computer skills, continual personal quality improvement and lifelong learning. Must be in good physical condition as majority of shift involves: typing, static positions, heavy lifting, standing, crouching, bending, pushing, pulling, kneeling, walking and standing for extended periods of time.

EPIC Trained with both Acute/LTC rotation experience. Preceptor for Technician Student Learning Rotations. Clinically Deployed Experience - BPMH/Med Review Trained. Hospital Pharmacy experience, rural experience is an asset.
