Description
The Alberta Health Services (AHS) Outpatient Pharmacy Contracts team is part of the Provincial Operations portfolio of Pharmacy Services. The team is responsible for managing the contract and relationship between AHS and the Calgary outpatient pharmacies. The team coordinates provision of Health Canada Special Access Programme (SAP) medications for outpatients, and synchronizing the medication procurement, inventory reconciliation and associated billing for AHS specialty programs. As a strong communicator, you will have the opportunity to build interactive relationships with all members of the healthcare team to facilitate seamless patient care from the outpatient pharmacies. Duties include: verifying invoices, verifying billable transactions and preparing payments; purchasing and receiving SAP drugs from vendors according to established procedures in the pharmacy computer system. Other duties include being responsible for the price file maintenance and updating of reporting tools for use with drugs purchased by AHS for the eight contracted outpatient pharmacies. The successful candidate must be customer-focused, and collaborates with the team to share information, identify opportunities to improve care processes, flow processes and the work environment. The candidate must be self-directed, able to work under minimal supervision, well-organized, and flexible to meet changing needs of the population served. As a Pharmacy Technician I, you will be responsible for the preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products. You will receive and triage medication orders, compound and repackage medication and prepare sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products.
Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician.
Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, and Excel). A minimum of five (5) years of experience, within the last ten (10) years in a pharmacy practice role. A minimum of one (1) year experience in Willow inventory.
Experience in a community or outpatient pharmacy setting.
