Be a part of the team committed to creating the Stollery Centre for Excellence in Virtual Health (The Centre) and lead the innovation and integration of appropriate, safe, and patient-centered virtual care along the patient journey for the Stollery family and networks of care. The Centre will support projects that provide innovative and enhanced virtual care services for all Stollery kids - locally and in rural and remote locations including culturally sensitive care to Indigenous families. This role reports to the Senior Project Manager and is located at the Walter C. Mackenzie Health Sciences Centre with the opportunity to work remotely. Although rare, you may be required to travel outside of Edmonton area. Evening and weekend availability may occasionally be necessary. WHAT YOU’LL DO: This pivotal position offers the exciting opportunity to ensure the successful achievement of project goals and objectives as outlined by the Senior Project Manager. You will oversee the entire project lifecycle, from initiation and planning to execution, implementation, evaluation, and closure. This role works independently on assigned projects and at the same time, supports and adopts collaboration within a team-based, matrixed environment, seeking guidance from senior leadership in complex or unfamiliar situations. Your knowledge and experience in healthcare settings will be crucial to successfully executing projects and contributing to the organization’s broader goals. The Stollery Centre for Virtual Health (The Centre) is responsible for leading the innovation and integration of appropriate, safe, and patient-centered virtual care projects that will expand access to Stollery care and improve patient family experience along the patient journey for the Stollery family and networks of care within the broader Stollery catchment. The Centre provides project and change management, data analysis, and evaluation expertise to projects that span from small, moderate to complex in nature, involve advanced and technical subject matter, span multiple Stollery and AHS departments, and often involve external stakeholders and dependencies with other internal to AHS and external projects. The Project Manager, reporting to the Senior Project Manager, is responsible for managing and executing project activities for small projects or portions of larger projects. The Project Manager will apply project management methodologies and tools aligned with Alberta Health Services best practices and the Project Management Institute (PMI) standards. Additionally, the role involves contributing to the development of project management capabilities within the Centre and promoting Virtual Health initiatives, collaborating with key stakeholders to drive innovation. Excellent communication skills are critical to balancing stakeholder's needs within project constraints.
Post-secondary degree in a health care profession, business or related field. Relevant project management-specific education, training. Post-Secondary Diploma or Certification in project management from an accredited institution.
A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in project management, with a strong understanding of project management principles, tools, and methodologies. Experience coordinating and leading teams through project planning, execution, monitoring, and evaluation. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a unique project environment with limited resources and subject matter expert availability. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly. Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including MS Teams and Visio, is required. The candidate should be a motivated, independent, and adaptable team player, capable of fostering relationships with internal and external stakeholders. They must be able to prioritize, work independently, and meet deadlines. Experience applying systems thinking and change management practices is essential. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to make informed decisions, communicate effectively, and inspire confidence in others. The candidate must uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and have a strong understanding of Alberta’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, as well as the Health Information Act.
Experience with AHS Zoom Enterprise, Telehealth, digital Remote Patient Monitoring, MS Teams. A broad understanding of healthcare and related issues is crucial, along with strong critical thinking, analysis, problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. Additionally, proficiency in developing and facilitating presentations is highly preferred.
