The Psychiatric Aide will participate in delivering quality patient care to pediatric patients and their families under the supervision of the Addiction and Mental Health Clinical Supervisor and Manager and in collaboration with the unit managers, assistant head nurses, nurses and allied health team on Pediatrics. This position requires an individual with strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills as well as knowledge of mental health disorders. The psych aide will work in collaboration with patients and families to implement care plan as outlined. They will participate in a multidisciplinary team collaboration in monitoring changes in patient’s status and revising care plans. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Psychiatric Aide, you will work as a collaborative member of the multi-disciplinary team to meet the personal care needs and comforts of patients in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. You will assist nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation and safety needs as well as assist with organized activities or programs. In this position, you will observe and report on a patient¿s mood, health, well-being, maintain effective communication with patients and health professionals, assist with the maintenance of a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors as well as assist in the general support of the work area.

Completion of Grade 12. A combination of education and experience satisfactory to the employer will also be considered.

Completion of some post secondary education i.e. diploma or bachelors. NVCI required.

Minimum of 1 year experience in Addictions and Mental Health (acute or community). Understanding of and application of trauma informed care. Understanding and application of patient and family centered care. Effective and strong communication skills. Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team. Ability to maintain a respectful and professional relationship with team members, patients, family and all stakeholders.
