Reporting to the Forensic Adolescent Program Manager, this is a permanent part-time position. The successful candidate will carry out professional duties as assigned, with the primary role being forensic risk assessment and the preparation of court-ordered reports under Section 34 of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. There may be opportunity to provide psychological therapy including individual psychotherapy, group and/or family therapy. Working effectively in a multi-disciplinary setting, the successful incumbent will work with a considerable degree of independence within broad guidelines and in accordance with program and professional standards. The incumbent will provide assessment in a wide variety of areas such as cognitive functioning, personality, risk, behavioural assessment and organicity screening. The incumbent will provide psychological consultation to members of the interdisciplinary team and to outside professionals and agencies as appropriate and when required. As a Psychologist II, you will provide advanced clinical services (including psychological assessment, diagnosis and/or intervention), consultation and education to the interprofessional team and patients/families, and/or provides clinical leadership and coordination in an assigned program area. This is an advanced level psychology position that will allow you to work with or within teams to provide and inform services for patients with complex and multi-dimensional medical, psychological, interpersonal, environmental and/or instrumental needs. You will consult, collaborate, and enact initiatives to ensure that practices are evidence based and in alignment with psychology standards of practice and code of ethics, as well as policy, legislation and regulations. You will be expected to lead, facilitate and/or participate in program, policy, and procedure development, service planning, staff development, quality improvement and evaluation, and/or research activities as identified by the needs of the service area(s). You may provide supervision to doctoral level psychology residents, master's level interns, provisional psychologists, psychometrists and other team members.

Completion of doctoral degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from a Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) or American Psychological Association (APA) program. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).

Completion of an approved CPA/APA Doctoral internship with a focus/emphasis in forensic mental health. Post internship registration eligibility with the College of Alberta Psychologists in a clinical capacity; full registration preferred. Knowledge of the common psychological tests used to assess cognitive functioning, personality and psychopathology in adolescents. Knowledge of risk assessment tools used with adolescent populations. Experience formulating and diagnosing mental health issues using the DSM 5 as a reference. Familiarity with best practices in the assessment and treatment of adolescent offenders. Experience providing trauma informed care and patient and family centered care. Experience writing forensic reports. Experience in administration and interpretation of psychometric testing. Proven accomplishments and participation in professional development. Effective interpersonal and communications skills. Demonstrated leadership and facilitation abilities. Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage changing priorities and work demands. Demonstrated ability and experience working collaboratively with other community services, stakeholders and partners. Ability to foster a participative and collaborative work environment.

3 to 5 years experience in a forensic adolescent mental health setting. Non-violent crisis intervention training.
