Description
The Psychosocial Rehab program at Centennial Centre is an inpatient program that provides support for patients with chronic mental illness. Reporting to the Unit Manager, the Recreation Therapist I will be responsible for assessment of patients as well as development, implementation, and evaluation of individual and group treatment programs according to professional practice standards. You will also be responsible for maintaining adequate treatment and progress records and attending treatment team conferences. This role entails facilitating groups as well as individualized support with setting goals, follow-up, and some community liaising. As a member of a multidisciplinary team, the Recreation Therapist I supports clients on both Marion and Malmo units. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Recreation Therapist I, you will be working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, providing comprehensive services for patients (clients, residents) within your assigned program or service area. You will ensure the level of therapeutic recreation practice is evidence based, patient-and family-centred, and in accordance with policies, procedures and standards of practice. You will complete assessment, treatment, education and management of clients¿ treatment progress and provide clinical support and consultation. You will collaborate and communicate with the health care team and participate in patient rounds, family conferences and meetings as related to the client and family.
Completion of bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies. Active or eligible registration with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA).
Current Heart and Stroke - Basic Life Support Provider (BLS-HCP). Ability to exercise professional judgement and initiative. Experience working within a collaborative interdisciplinary team. Class 4 license or eligible to obtain.
Experience working in a psychiatric rehab setting.
