Your opportunity is to work in an award winning trans-disciplinary program providing specialized stroke care in the client's home. As our recreation therapist, under supervision from the Clinical Coordinator of the Stroke Early Supported Discharge Team, you will be responsible for the coordination and delivery of recreation therapy assessments and treatment for clients referred. Treatment is provided within the trans-disciplinary model, with an emphasis on Client and Family Centered Care. Two trained assistants support implementation of programming. You will participate in client teaching, provide consultation and in-servicing, communicate with family, co-workers and other members of the health care team, and perform documentation as required. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

As a Recreation Therapist I, you will be working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, providing comprehensive services for patients (clients, residents) within your assigned program or service area. You will ensure the level of therapeutic recreation practice is evidence based, patient-and family-centred, and in accordance with policies, procedures and standards of practice. You will complete assessment, treatment, education and management of clients¿ treatment progress and provide clinical support and consultation. You will collaborate and communicate with the health care team and participate in patient rounds, family conferences and meetings as related to the client and family.

Completion of bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies. Active or eligible registration with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA).
