Description
The job opportunity available is for a Recreational Therapist based out of the Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre's Long Term Care Unit. Additionally, the Recreational Therapist will represent the recreation department as their Team Lead. The successful applicant will be expected to provide guidance and supervision to the recreation team as needed. This role requires an individual with highly developed communication and organizational skills. The successful applicant will be expected to: Provide clinical leadership to ensure safe and efficient care. Coordinate the assessment, treatment, education and care of the patient. Participate in program development to ensure effective delivery of services. Complete assessment, treatment, education and management. Provide clinical support and consultation. Collaborate and communicate with the health care team. Participate in patient rounds, family conferences and meetings Wetaskiwin is a community of approximately 13,000 residents located in Central Alberta and is known for its friendly, small-town atmosphere. Wetaskiwin maintains its welcoming atmosphere while remaining highly accessible as it is only 45 minutes from Edmonton.
As a Recreation Therapist II, you will take a leadership role in ensuring that the level of therapeutic recreation practice in your clinical area is evidence based, patient-and family-centred and in accordance with policies, procedures and standards of practice. You will provide clinical leadership to ensure safe and efficient care as well as coordinate the assessment, treatment, education and care of the patient (client, resident). You will participate in program development to ensure effective delivery of services, including the development of protocols, forms, education, and quality improvement initiatives. You will complete assessment, treatment, education and management of clients¿ treatment progress and provide clinical support and consultation. You will collaborate and communicate with the health care team and participate in patient rounds, family conferences and meetings as related to the client and family.
Completion of bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies. Active or eligible registration for Professional Membership with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA). Minimum three years' related clinical experience as a Recreation Therapist.
