An exciting opportunity exists to join the fast-paced Acute Care Recreation Therapy team which is based out of Red Deer Regional Hospital. As a Recreation Therapist II, you will be providing therapeutic Recreation Therapy services to Acute Care Neurology, Stroke and Palliative patients at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre. You will be expected to communicate and collaborate effectively with the patients, their families/supports, and with the interdisciplinary team. In this role you will be supported by the Allied Health Area Manager and Recreational Therapy Professional Practice Lead, with opportunities to connect with professional in surrounding areas. You may also need to collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator, as well as community partners, to provide effective programming.

As a Recreation Therapist II, you will take a leadership role in ensuring that the level of therapeutic recreation practice in your clinical area is evidence based, patient-and family-centred and in accordance with policies, procedures and standards of practice. You will provide clinical leadership to ensure safe and efficient care as well as coordinate the assessment, treatment, education and care of the patient (client, resident). You will participate in program development to ensure effective delivery of services, including the development of protocols, forms, education, and quality improvement initiatives. You will complete assessment, treatment, education and management of clients¿ treatment progress and provide clinical support and consultation. You will collaborate and communicate with the health care team and participate in patient rounds, family conferences and meetings as related to the client and family.

Completion of bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies. Active or eligible registration for Professional Membership with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA). Minimum three years' related clinical experience as a Recreation Therapist.

Membership with the Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association. Heart & Stroke: Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) required. Degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field.
