Description
Reporting to the Unit Manager of the Pediatric Cardiology Clinic at the Stollery Children’s Hospital, this role is a key member of the clinic’s interdisciplinary team. We are looking for a dynamic, highly skilled, detail and quality-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The Electrophysiology (EP) Coordinator will be responsible for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care for EP patients seen at the Stollery Children’s Hospital, including inpatient, outpatient and Telehealth visit or virtual visits. The incumbent performs a variety of nursing duties in accordance with clinical policies and nursing care standards including coordination of care for complex patients from referring centers, electrophysiology patient counseling, database entry and follow-up planning for Electrophysiology and Pediatric Cardiology patients. The successful candidate will act as a resource for EP patients and their families recognizing the value of and works with a Patient and Family Centered Care philosophy, providing safe, quality care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. Decisions are made in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Minimum five years of recent Pediatric Cardiology experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings required, along with prior case coordination experience. Strong skills in assessment, critical thinking, problem-solving, organization, and patient care are essential. Must be self-directed, adaptable, and able to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment while maintaining confidentiality. Ability to multitask between inpatient and outpatient care and follow up within Scope of Practice is required. Must be detail-oriented, able to prioritize and meet deadlines, and possess excellent communication, teaching, and public speaking skills. Reliability and leadership in promoting integrated patient care are expected. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required. Physical demands include lifting, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking.
Competency in Connect Care, Netcare and WCCHN programs a definite asset.
