Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse

If you love working with children in an inpatient psychiatric setting, this would be a great opportunity for you! The RAH Unit 35/36 has a full-time nursing position available. This position provides a range of patient care services specific to child and youth acute care psychiatry at the RAH. The nurse will play an integral role in providing mental health assessment, identifying nursing priorities based on symptoms and behaviours presented, and be a key player within the multidisciplinary team. We are looking for someone who is a team player and truly understands the foundation of patient and family centred care. This position has been identified and is anticipated to transition to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), you will provide leadership through a wide variety of nursing services to patients (clients, residents) for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, mental health and preventing mental illness, injury and disability. You will teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and take necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care, while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited Psychiatric nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Experience working with children and families required. Minimum 1-year inpatient psychiatry experience required. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position and provide hands on care to patients in unpredictable, urgent situations. Current NVCI training.

Connect Care experience preferred. Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred.
