Brooks Health Centre is an acute and continuing care facility with 28 acute care beds, 10 ER beds, 2 OR theatres and one endoscopy suite. Its core programs include short stay surgical, endoscopy, 24 hour emergency, ambulatory care services, obstetrics and community health. AHS is responsible for the operations of the hospital. The Registered Nurse provides safe and effective nursing care according to AHS policies and best practice standards. You will coordinate and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, patient and family. You will utilize the nursing processes, critical thinking skills and problem solving skills to coordinate care, teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and families. You will observe, monitor, report, and document changes in the patients physical, mental, and emotional state. You will periodically assume charge nurse responsibilties once you are established on the unit and orientated to the role. Brooks is one of fastest growing communities in Alberta with a unique multi-cultural flavor. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.87/hour - $43.82/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable. Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Minimum of one (1) year experience in adult medical/surgical nursing experience within the last 2 years.

PeriOperative Certificate with Surgical, Endoscopy and PARR experience an asset. Ability to take “on call” responsibilities; available to report for duty within less than 30 minutes. Ability to collaborate within the expectations of a highly complex integrated team. Demonstrate advanced problem-solving skills, integrated critical thinking and good judgement.
