As a Registered Nurse, you will report to the Site Manager at the Three Hills Health Centre, you will work in a fast-paced environment in Acute Care, Emergency and Labour & Delivery. This position will challenge your ability to balance varying patient acuity levels and priorities within a team environment. In this rural community you will serve a diverse patient population with a continual focus on the AHS Patient First and Our People strategies. You will participate and at times lead and coordinate the activities of the nursing team while contributing to the interprofessional health care team in the delivery of patient care services. The Three Hills Health Centre has 21 Acute Care beds, a 24/7 Emergency Department and a 23 bed Long Term Care Unit. The Three Hills Health Centre also has an attached Community Health Centre wing, inclusive of Public Health, Home Care, Mental Health and Rehabilitation services. Three Hills is located in central Alberta, 102 km southeast of Red Deer, with a population of 3,200. The residents of the community take pride in providing a welcoming environment to both visitors and neighbors. There are excellent recreation facilities, numerous shopping, dining and financial conveniences, numerous service groups and community social events which all supports the quality of life for the local residents. Abundant green space can be found throughout the community with multiple parks and walking trails.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.87/hour - $43.82/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable. Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)

The incumbent will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in the following areas: Integrate Patient and Family Centered Care principles. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills while collaborating with multidisciplinary team members. Demonstrated conflict resolution and problem-solving skills. Excellent time management and prioritization skills. Competence in relevant technical nursing skills and a willingness to learn new skills as required. Demonstrated ongoing responsibility for maintaining continuing professional development opportunities. Ability to work shift work and meet physical demands of the job.

One year within the last two years’ Emergency Department experience. One year within the last two years’ Labor & Delivery experience. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification. Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS). Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification. Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) Certification. Cardiac Arrest Management Advanced (CAM-A). Cardiac Arrest Management Basic (CAM-B). Rural Nurse Connect Care Training.
