Description
The Health Link Team has an opportunity for an energetic, passionate, and experienced Registered Nurse looking for a change in how care delivered where you will be utilizing your robust communication skills, extensive nursing knowledge and diverse work background. An essential part of this provincial health team, you will be responsible for providing telephone triage services, offering health advice and information to callers across Alberta. Utilizing the clinical software, diverse databases and clinical protocols, you will evaluate, triage and counsel patients dealing with diverse and often intricate concerns. Leveraging your exceptional patient focus, clinical nursing expertise and assessment skills, you will deliver high-quality and precise health advice and information within a contact care setting. As the successful candidate, you will be applying your active listening, adept problem solving, and the ability to ask relevant questions to assist the caller. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.87/hour - $43.82/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable. Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Qualified candidates will have a minimum of three (3-5 years) years recent experience in a clinical setting, including experience in clinical areas that require high levels of independent assessment, and triage skills. They will also require recent experience working with diverse client populations and clinical issues including young families and seniors. They will also have the ability to successfully deal with stress in a high call volume contact center and in addition, they will be able to work comfortably with a variety of computer databases. A minimum typing speed of 35 WPM is a must. Intermediate computer skills are also a requirement for this position.
A Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is preferred. Interacting with clients over the telephone, Nursing telephone triage, and Mental Health training and/or experience is also preferred.
