Working on a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team, the Outreach Registered Psych Nurse is a valued member of the larger Airdrie Addiction and Mental Health team providing services to individuals living with a persistent mental illness. The role is dynamic and varied including group work, consultation, case management and CTO management. Working closely with community stakeholders (e.g. PCN, RCMP, Pharmacies, Urgent Care), team members (Social Work, Therapists, Urgent Care, Psychiatrists), this advanced level position requires staff to draw on a high level of professional maturity. This position has been identified and is anticipated to transition to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), you will provide leadership through a wide variety of nursing services to patients (clients, residents) for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, mental health and preventing mental illness, injury and disability. You will teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and take necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care, while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited Psychiatric nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Knowledge of recovery care principles and approach is required. Knowledge of psychotropic medication and confidence in monitoring medications for efficacy and side effects required.

Two to three years working in a Mental Health setting is preferred with demonstrated knowledge related to mental health and substance use presentations. Demonstrated initiative, effective time management and team engagement skills.
