There is an exciting opportunity to join our Child & Adolescent Addiction and Mental Health Team. We are looking to add a team of experienced RN/RPN professionals to support the stabilization of child and youth in central zone at Step Up Step Down. . We are looking for an experienced candidate to join our team at the brand-new Center for Excellence! The ideal candidate will have a passion for working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to support our young clients and their families through the path of care continuum. They will be responsible for daily care to our patients, liaising with the families and medical team, and being a part of the overall treatment team. Red Deer has an overarching Children's Team focus, supporting all other programs in the portfolio as needed. You understand the complex relationships between the youth's physical, emotional, mental, developmental, and spiritual health. As a RN/RPN, you will provide mentorship and leadership within the team environment based on your scope of practice and skill set. An ability to create strong relationships with the youth, families, and our team are a critical asset to this position. You have strong assessment skills, ability to use critical thinking, flexibility, and ability to work in a high paced and acute environment. Open to RPN/RN candidates seeking employment. This position has been identified and is anticipated to transition to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), you will provide leadership through a wide variety of nursing services to patients (clients, residents) for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, mental health and preventing mental illness, injury and disability. You will teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and take necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care, while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.87/hour - $43.82/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Psychiatric Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Psychiatric Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(a)(i) or (ii) as applicable. Completion of an accredited Psychiatric nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Experience with the child, family, and youth population required. Critical thinking skills are required daily in this position. An ability to work independently and part of a team as necessary.

Preferred 5 years' experience working with the child and adolescent population including the use of the DSM-V. Interest in program development and taking initiative in a new program is considered an asset.
