Description
Joining the Respiratory Therapist (RT) team at the Northern Lights Regional Hospital in Fort McMurray offers a dynamic and fulfilling career. As an RT, you will be an integral part of a multidisciplinary team delivering patient-centered care across all hospital departments. You could be in Pediatrics, then called to Emergency, with finishing your day in the OR Recovery. Your role will involve assessing, treating, and educating patients, performing essential respiratory interventions like oxygen therapy, ventilator management, and airway support, while also engaging in specialized procedures such as Level III sleep studies and bronchoscopies. Your responsibilities will extend to managing and maintaining respiratory equipment and offering training to both healthcare providers and patients. Your expertise is relied on by the entire healthcare team, the patients and their families. Beyond your professional experience, Fort McMurray is a vibrant community located in the scenic boreal forest of Northern Alberta. Located in Wood Buffalo on Treaty 8 territory and the traditional lands of the Metis. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480 to support the cost of living, adding to the appeal of relocating to this northern gem. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
As a Respiratory Therapist I, you will assess patients (clients, resident), develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans and monitor their progress. You will be responsible for various diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and interventions. You will collaborate with various clinical teams and groups to enhance clinical outcomes. You will provide training and assist health care providers in the use and care of respiratory equipment as well as educate patients and their families regarding diseases, medications, equipment and treatments.
Active or eligible registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA).
Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification. Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
A minimum of 1 year experience in a health care setting is preferred.
